International Hot and Spicy Food Day

There is no consensus about how this food holiday came about though it Is believed the day originated in the early 2000’s though humans have been consuming spices for more than 6,000 years and for good reason too.

Not only do they add flavor to many of our favorite meals, various health studies and medical research has found spices including ginger, garlic, turmeric, cumin and capsicum (to name a few) contain anti-inflammatory properties that may help fight and protect against health conditions including arthritis, heart disease and certain cancers.
Other spices like cinnamon have been found to help lower blood sugar.
Further, spices like ginger contain antibacterial properties that help destroy harmful gut bacteria and aid against nausea and indigestion.
